The major difference between real estate & architectural photography.

There is a huge difference between hiring a real estate photographer and an architectural photographer. Real estate photos have short shelf life and usage. Architectural photos are meant to be used forever. A real estate photographer will show up and shoot 20-30 photos in a 2 hour time slot, and call it a day. An architectural photographer will most likely do two site visits; one to scout the location in advance, and one to shoot. They will arrive to shoot first thing in the morning, and capture the movement of light throughout the space over the entire day. Good design uses natural light to dictate the mood of a space. An experienced architectural photographer will spend the entire day on site to capture the play of light and shadow. They will produce less, but better planned photographs. Quality over quantity.
